I recently visited a group called Men Matter in Drumchapel to hand over a cheque for £2000.
I was amazed at the support this group gives to individuals and the environment in which this is delivered. Some of the services they deliver are listed below.
- We provide a 24/7 suicide prevention and crisis response service delivered by assist trained local members of the community.
- We provide free holistic sessions activity groups and support that help develop positive well being, improved mental and physical health and a variety of coping mechanisms that can be used on an individual, family and community setting.
- We provide counselling sessions through Glasgow Clyde College.
- We provide personal centred counselling sessions free which members in the local community can access.
- We provide a safe confidential non-judgemental environment within our hub which all men above the age of 16, living in Scotland can freely access.
- We facilitate meaningful play and learning opportunities for dads, children and families encouraging new skills and attitudes towards positive parenting and emotional well being introducing information such as ACEs Solihull, stress reduction promoting health both mental and physical offering free health and fitness activities healthy eating and nutrition.
- Giving back to the community through environmental activities such as litter picks, conservation.
