Today I met with 100 families from the local area. The families were from Tamil, Muslim and Buddhist backgrounds. They came to my house and Sunny-Sid3Up project work headquarters to receive packages that contain 5kg of rice, daal, sugar, tea, salt, milk and matches.

Thanks to the generosity of charity fund raisers in Scotland we are able to help five families whose homes were severely damaged by the recent cyclone. Each house lost their roofs and their kitchens were destroyed. The families are Tamil, Muslim, Christian and two Buddhist families.

The latest project work I'm responsible for is a result of the very bad monsoon rain we experienced here in Sri Lanka earlier this year. The flooding caused extensive damage to a house in Kaluana. The house belongs to a man called Upali. Upali makes a small income working at the local tea plantation.

SunnySid3-Up continues on with its charity work with families in need of support in Sri Lanka. The latest work is with a single mother, Kumari, from the rural area of Migahathanana. Kumari has two children, an eight year old girl and a one and a half year old boy.

This week I was fortunate to help a young family who are in need of support from SunnySid3Up.

Sunny-sid3up donated £250 to Rising Star Nursery, to help towards the cost of a day trip away for the kids............What a day they had.

A cheque for £1000 was handed to Govan Boxing Club to help them with the cost of equipment, sunny-sid3up would like to wish them the very best and we hope to support them further in the future.

Indika highlighted to myself the need for these children to be educated, unfortunately their father passed away and they live with their mother with very little income.

The latest photos show the devastation of a village that has not yet been reached by government aid workers.

Our thanks goes out again to SunnySid3-Up Charity, the fundraisers in Scotland and throughout the world who have made another generous donation to our relief work here in Sri Lanka following the floods and landslides in the local area. Many people here still remain homeless and need our support to rebuild their lives.

Due to the kindness and generosity of fundraisers with Sunny-Sid3Up in Scotland 150 rice packs, medicine and clothing will be sent to those families most in need following the recent floods and mudslides here in Sri Lanka. The monsoon rains have brought tragedy to many people in local areas who desperately need our help. I will ensure that all the aid will make it to families as soon as possible.
